How Member Of The Month Lulu Cheung Overcame Painful Neck & Back Issues To Regain Her Strength & Confidence
Lulu wanted to get fit and change her body for a long time. She had seen the Unity Gym Facebook page and loved our unique approach to exercise and well being.
Specifically our focus on movement skill and mobility instead of just regular exercise.
“Before joining Unity I had been having physiotherapy for stiff neck and annoying back pain that had been ongoing for some time.
“I wasn’t a self motivated person, and even though I had a gym membership elsewhere I never went. It was like I was stuck in that limbo of wanting to change but also not being sure how to do so.
“I just didn’t know how to get started.”
The 3 Big Changes That Positively Affected Lulu’s Health
“1. Since joining Unity I have vastly improved my eating habits and as a result my liver is healthier than it has been in years!
“2. I have also incorporated the gym into my daily schedule even though I work sporadic hours. In the past, this would have been an excuse not to exercise!
“3. Finally I have embraced being a beginner. I realised that trying new things is not as daunting as you might think. It’s great, I am now much more open to having a go at stuff like slacklining and indoor rock climbing!
“So I guess I’m much more active across the board …”
The Biggest Changes She’s Noticed Since Joining
“Where do I start? The changes I have seen so far have been amazing!
- I no longer need physio so I guess i’ve saved heaps of cash
- My clothes fit heaps better than before which feels amazing
- I’m much more flexible so I’m moving much better in general
- My mood is always improved after I have been to a workout
“I suffer from pretty severe depression at times and actually this month has been particularly difficult. The only thing that stayed consistent is the gym because I knew if I did that one thing it would help everything else.
“And it did …
“Oh yeah … and I also managed to do a bodyweight pull up this month for the first time since primary school!
“So take that depression!!”
What She Likes Best About Unity Gym
“The thing I like best about coming here is the feeling of belonging to something and not being just a number.
“Everyone is always happy and friendly.
“The trainers will take time in and out of class to assist with stretches or technique to help with your goals.
“The workouts are always evolving so you don’t get bored. Seeing other people improve on their own journey is also great. But there’s absolutely no judgement or comparison of abilities … only positive vibes.
